There is a common misconception that a single, definitive 'truth' exists in ethics, or that individuals with 'ethical leadership' inherently know the right course of action. In reality, it's more complicated. Ethical issues often involve multiple viewpoints and are highly sensitive to social context, making it difficult to find a solution that satisfies everyone. So, who ultimately determines what is right in such situations?
Racing a sailboat is demanding. A lot happens at once, and as the skipper, it’s my responsibility to stay focused and maintain calm on board. Ensuring everyone feels safe is a priority. Sailing is a team effort. On my ship, there’s no yelling, but plenty of laughter. We learn from our mistakes, not just in terms of sailing, but also in understanding our emotional responses under pressure. Winning isn’t everything; what truly matters to me is that, as a team, we continually improve our sailing skills. I bring the same mindset to training. I set the direction and ensure everyone feels content. Whatever we do, we do it together.
Nothing is so difficult to find that it cannot be discovered by the right question.

Training and coaching

Would you like to engage your team in a discussion about whether each member’s personal “why” aligns with that of the team? Or perhaps take a moment to reflect on the ethical aspects of your work and the core values that shape your field? Maybe you’re interested in exploring new approaches to team collaboration? Feel free to reach out, and we can discuss how I might support your organization or team.

With over 20 years of experience, I’ve been delivering training on ethics and moral leadership. My journey began as a university teacher bioethics and philosophy of science. Now, I work with a wide range of individuals, guiding them through conscience-driven questions and ethical dilemmas. I am also specialized in training teams on interdisciplinary collaboration. My clients are diverse—from scientists and medical professionals to bankers, lawyers, artists, and vocational students. Collaboration within diverse teams is an art, especially when misunderstandings or differing ideas of “what is right thing to do” arise.

Every organization is unique, which is why I tailor all in-company team training to address specific needs. I incorporate real-world stories and film clips to make the sessions experiential. It’s not about learning theory—it’s about reflecting on real situations and that seemingly simple question: What would you do in that situation?
